What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

The School of Self Defense is very excited to offer the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes in Noblesville Indiana.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has served as the cornerstone for mixed martial arts since the early 1990s when it shocked the world by leading Royce Gracie to victory in the first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Since that time, this art has served as the backbone for Mixed Martial Arts programs all across the globe and has developed into a standalone sport in its own right.

The basic strategy that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu follows is to take your opponent to the ground so that you can establish a dominant position. Once you have your opponent under control you can finish the fight with a painful joint lock or choke. This method not only has proven to be an effective system to allow the weak to overcome the strong, but it is also one of the only martial arts methods that will teach you how to win a fight from seemingly vulnerable positions such as laying on your back.
